Chapeau! Wordmark Logo

To the first timers, café riders, club racers and dedicated trainers. Chapeau!

‘Chapeau’ translates as ‘hat’ but it means far more. Used to indicate respect for a fellow cyclist’s efforts, achievement or endeavour Chapeau! is a spoken doffing of the cap.

Respect and encouragement are qualities we admire in cyclists. We believe in always greeting a fellow cyclist, whether with a nod, a wave or a cheery hello. The spirit of inclusivity and fellowship makes cycling an individual sport that we’re proud to be involved in.

To all fellow cyclists who obsess over their gear, who cajole themselves to head out early, who drink cappuccino after 12, who covet other bikes but remain staunchly protective of their own — Chapeau!

WHO WE ARE

We will never tell you what to do, but we would love to remind you about the joy of cycling. Whether you’re a beginner finding your way, the dedicated trainer burning up the miles or the café stop connoisseur earning the calories.

We don’t believe in stereotypes. Racers like cake, fair weather riders go fast. Whoever you are, whatever you ride and however often you do so we want you to feel great, look sharp and have fun.

We founded Chapeau! because we’d had enough of bright, shapeless and inadequate gear. We set out to create cycling apparel that we would be proud to be seen in, on the bike and at the café stop. We wanted gear in a style and cut that was both classic and contemporary and performed as well as the best.

WE WANT WHAT YOU WANT. TO RIDE BIKES

OUR APPROACH IS GUIDED BY THREE CORE PRINCIPLES, A PHILOSOPHY IF YOU WILL.

A MODERN AND TIMELESS SENSE OF STYLE

We aim to create cycling apparel with modernity, detail and personality. Made well, fit for purpose and great looking.

2

A FOCUS ON INCLUSIVITY, RESPECT AND ENJOYMENT

We want every cyclist to enjoy every ride. We want to inspire the belief that everyone can have a great time on a bike.

STRAIGHT TALKING, CONFIDENT AND PASSIONATE ABOUT CYCLING

We have a point of view but we’re not judgemental. There’s no codswallop, you’ll never have to decipher the meaning in what we say.

Chapeau – The Guardian

Chapeau, which is based down in Devon, has just released its the new collection for 2017 with lovely new designs, inspired by the promise of a summer of big rides, races and adventures. If you are looking for quality, understated style and fair prices for good products, this is the name you have been waiting for.

The fine details are covered by a full collection of socks, caps, outerwear (because it’s not always sunny in the summer) and a simple, stylish casual range for the café and the bar when you are thinking back over a great day in the saddle.

Visit the Chapeau website and I guarantee you will be tempted.

Echelon Jacket

Echelon Jacket – Road CC

The Chapeau! Red Echelon Jacket brings together some really nice features combined with good performance and an excellent fit.

I was really impressed with it, from the material choice and performance to the pattern on the inside. A really well thought out, packable design that keeps out the elements.

It's a really well made, well designed and innovative jacket that performed superbly throughout the review. Not cheap, but worth the money and does enough in my opinion to warrant a 9.

Thermal Jersey

Thermal Jersey – Road CC

The Chapeau! Thermal Jersey is the only thermal one the company makes, but it's certainly made it count. With retro styling and a more relaxed fit, this simple design oozes quality.

To test its wicking ability, I took the jersey a little out of its comfort zone and into some cyclo-cross training. The intense efforts caused much perspiration, but the jersey handled it very well, leaving me feeling very comfortable.

The Chapeau! Thermal Jersey is a very adaptable spring, winter and autumn option. It's well made, with retro styling and a superb fit.

The Chapeau Repel Jersey is an excellent bit of kit. It’s become my go-to jersey over the past six weeks for training rides in what has been wet and wild – but mild – winter.

Pave Bibshorts

Spending £119.99 on bib shorts from a new and relatively unknown manufacturer represents something of a risk but the Chapeau Pave bib shorts are on a par with many I’ve tested from better-known brands.

Arm/Knee Warmers
Chapeau’s arm and knee warmers are made from a lightweight polyester which means they’re ideal for use in spring, summer and autumn if there’s enough of a chill in the air to warrant keeping your arms and knee covered.
